GRADIAN DRIES OUT FOR GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL

ALTON, 10 JULY, 2008; Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity will benefit from an unorthodox fund-raising challenge.  Damian Acklam Of Gradian Systems Ltd, did not drink a drop of alcohol from midnight on New Year’s Eve 2007 to 2^nd February 2008. 

Damian committed to ‘not drink a drop in January’ and has vouched to double the value of what was raised through his Company, Gradian Systems Ltd. Through the generosity of the local community, friends, work colleagues and relatives he has raised a staggering £1278.

“Whilst the method of raising the money might be slightly amusing, the motivation to help Great Ormond Street Hospital really focused my attentions to make sure that I saw this through despite a fair amount of ribbing” commented Damian.

Damian has committed to further challenges on behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Damian says: “My wife and I have been long-time supporters of Great Ormond Street Hospital.  We are both in complete amazement at the children’s spirit and courage in such very serious circumstances.”

Every year Great Ormond Street Hospital needs to raise £50 million through charitable donations. Whilst the NHS meets the day to day running costs of the hospital, the fundraising income allows Great Ormond Street Hospital to remain at the forefront of child healthcare. Without it we would not be able to offer the same specialist treatments and services and to have the buildings and pediatric equipment that we need. We would also not be able to continue the level of pioneering research that has led to so many new advances for children both in the UK and across the world.
